Tour 1 - Delhi to Mumbai
Departure on the 1 st of the month. Delhi/Agra/Jaipur/Pushkar/Udaipur/Dungapur/Ahmedabad/Daman/Mumbai
The Spice Bus returns from Mumbai to Delhi on the 15th of each month.
Book on any one of four departures or combine any two itineraries.
Itinerary:
DAY 1 - ARRIVE DELHIOn arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi the Spice Trails group
will be met by our friendly representative and transferred by coach to the hotel.
DAY 2 - IN DELHIWith a population of about 10 million, the capital of India is the nation’s third largest
city. Many great empires have been ruled from here. The monuments and ruins of these are scattered
throughout the city often cheek by jowl with modern structures and high rise towers. A full day tour of the
city has been arranged.
DAY 3 - DELHI/AGRAThe morning drive is by coach to Agra. The 205 km journey will take between 4 and
5 hours. En route we will visit Akbar’s Mausoleum at Sikandra. This beautiful structure was constructed in a
fusion of Muslim and Hindu architectural styles characteristic of the period. On arrival in Agra transfer to the
hotel. The afternoon tour is certain to be a highlight as we visit India’s famous 17th century master piece,
the Taj Mahal. The ‘Taj’ as it’s commonly called is often considered the most perfect architectural monument
in the world.
DAY 4 - AGRA /JAIPURThe morning drive is by coach to Jaipur. The 240 km journey will take about
5 hours. En route we will visit Fatehpur Sikri. This fascinating ghost town located a little beyond Agra was
built by Emperor Akbar as his capital. It was a veritable fairy tale city and its red sandstone ruins are still in
pristine condition. It is not hard to imagine what court life must have been like in the days of its grandeur.
DAY 5 - IN JAIPUR A full day of sightseeing in Jaipur includes the City Palace Museum which contains a wondrous
collection of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal art. The Jantar Mantar is still an accurate observatory though it was built in 1726
AD! The Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) is a five storied wonder with a spectacular pyramidal facade and overhanging windows with
latticed screens, domes and spires. Next to the Taj Mahal it’s one of the most photographed buildings in India. The Amber Fort,
11 km from Jaipur, is a marvellous example of Rajput architecture with its terraces and ramparts reflected in the Maota Lake below.
The ascent to the fort is on gaily caparisoned elephants. We will also visit a colourful market area to see where the locals do their
day-to-day shopping.
DAY 6 - JAIPUR / PUSHKARThe morning drive is by coach to Pushkar. The 125 km journey will take
about 3 hours.On arrival in Pushkar transfer to the hotel. Visit to the Brahma Temple. The afternoon half day
camel safari ends with a memorable dinner in the desert.
DAY 7 - PUSHKAR / UDAIPURThe morning drive is by coach to Udaipur. The 300 km journey will
take about 5 hours. On arrival transfer to the hotel. The afternoon tour highlights a unique desert city that
was built in 1559 A.D. by Maharaja Udai Singh. Udaipur was described as “the most romantic spot on the
continent of India” by Col. James Todd.
DAY 8 - IN UDAIPURIn the morning we will make an excursion to Eklingji & Nagda, 22 km north of
Udaipur. Eklingji is a small village with a number of ancient temples. The Shiva temple originally dates back
to 734 AD. Evening arrangements will be made for dinner at a local restaurant. Arrangements will also be
made for palm readings.
DAY 9 - UDAIPUR / DUNGAPUR The morning drive is by coach to Dungarpur. The 120 km journey will
take about 3 hours. On arrival check in hotel Udai Bilas Palace. An afternoon visit is made to the old palace
where many visitors enjoy bird watching over the tranquil lake.
DAY 10 - DUNGAPUR / AHMEDABADThe morning drive is by coach to Ahmedabad. The 155 km
journey will take between 3 to 4 hours. En route we will visit Modhera. The small town is well known for its
Sun Temple. Built in 1026 AD, the temple is dedicated to the Sun god, Surya and stands high on a plinth
overlooking the deep tank. Every inch of the edifice, both inside and outside, is magnificently carved with
gods and goddesses, birds, beasts and flowers.
DAY 11 - AHMEDABAD / DAMAN The morning drive is by coach to Daman. The 360 km journey will
take between 6 and 7 hours. On arrival transfer to hotel. The afternoon is free to explore this pleasant little
coastal town. The evening dinner will be arranged at a seaside restaurant.
DAY 12 - DAMAN / BOMBAY Spend the morning at the beach and visit the local markets. The afternoon
coach drive is to Mumbai (Bombay). The 190 km journey will take between 4 and 5 hours. On arrival
transfer to the hotel.
DAY 13 - IN MUMBAI Mumbai is a massive city offering the glamour of Bollywood cinema, cricket on the
maidans on weekends, bhel puri on the beach at Chowpatty, red double-decker buses, value for money
shopping and a wealth of attractions Mumbai has vital street life, India’s best nightlife and more bazaars than
you could ever explore.
DAY 14 - DEPART MUMBAI Enjoy your final few hours in this mega city by shopping or just relaxing by the
pool. The Spice Trails group is transferred to Sahar International Airport in time to board the flight for their
onward destinations. You also have the choice of staying on in India, by travelling further on the SPICE BUS,
or travelling independently through incredible India.
